Dr. Boyce Watkins on BET, ABC News to Discuss African-Americans, Finance and Other Issues
Syracuse, NY. (PRWeb) January 8, 2007 -- Prominent and controversial Syracuse University Professor Dr. Boyce Watkins has signed deals to appear on Black Entertainment Television (BET) and ABC News to discuss issues related to the black community as well as Americans and their money. Dr. Watkins is the author of the best-selling book, "What if George Bush were a Black Man?" and the host of "Boiling Hot with Boyce Watkins", a nationally-syndicated radio show. BET is hosting its "Top 25 Worst things to happen to black people", in which Dr. Watkins will join other celebrities in making insightful and humorous commentary. He also recently published an article called "Financial Liposuction: Cutting the fat out of your budget after the Holidays" on the front page of ABCNews.com.
An African-American, Watkins is known for his riveting statements in modern social commentary, as well as his insightful and entertaining financial expertise. His recent appearance on CNN with shock jock Wendy Williams to discuss Oprah Winfrey and the rapper 50 Cent drew a great deal of controversy, as Watkins is one of a small number of prominent black scholars (including Marc Lamont Hill at Temple University) to question Winfrey's treatment of black males. "Her name is Oprah Winfrey, not Jesus Winfrey", says Watkins, who makes regular appearances on ESPN's Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith. "My infinite respect for her does not mean that she is beyond being questioned."
Watkins is also the author of the highly popular book, "Everything you ever wanted to know about college" and the forthcoming book "Financial Lovemaking 101: Merging assets with your partner in ways that feel good." He has been called "brilliant" by Michael Eric Dyson, and The Black Athlete Sports Network has stated that "Boyce Watkins might be the smartest man in America." Dr. Watkins humbly accepts such accolades, but feels that his work is merely part of the commitment that any educated black man should have to his country. "I am simply repaying my student loan to the black community by doing the things I do," says Watkins, who created a storm of controversy with powerful statements on Hannity & Colmes (FOX) during Hurricane Katrina. "Nothing could be more American than to tell the truth."
Dr. Boyce Watkins is a Finance Professor at Syracuse University and author of "What if George Bush were a Black Man?" He makes regular appearances in the national media, including The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch (MSNBC), The Wendy Williams Experience (Vh-1), USA Today, Forbes Magazine, CNN, Fox News, and many other outlets. He is also the host of the radio show "Boiling Hot with Boyce Watkins". For more information or interviews, please call Lawrence at (502) 640-8155 or visit www.blackmanbush.com.
